Have you
ever wondered how much money YouTubers were making? Youtube has made it
possible for people to work in the comfort of their home while earning a fairly large amount of profits.
YouTubers who have posted viral videos like “Harlem Shake” and “Gangnam Style", are earning up to millions
of dollars all because of the large
amount views they are receiving.
In
2010, the most popular YouTube partners were
making more than $100,000 a year. As of 2013, some of these video creators
including The Annoying Orange
and Jenna Marbles were making millions
of dollars, while others like Ryan
Higa and Ray William Johnson went further into the $100,000 range. Today,
stars like Psy, whose
channel has received up to 2.13
billion views an estimated $5.9
million in profits, can earn
even more.
YouTube also gives its partners earnings for publishing advertisements on their videos. The types of
ads they use in their videos may also affect in how much money they earn. Pre-roll
ads, which show up in the beginning of the video, are said to bring in $5 for every 1,000 views. Banner ads, the less annoying ones as i would like to think, bring however less money at an estimated $0.80 cents per 1,000 views.
To
become a partner with YouTube, you must have:
Over 1,000 Subscribers
Over 1,000 views on each video
Over 10,000 channel views

I heard about famous Youtubers making money off of their videos, but I had no idea it was that much! I also didn’t know they had to meet the requirements, such as having a number of subscribers or channel views, before you could start earning money. I thought anyone could, but it was just the videos with the most views that earned the big bucks. However, I am happy to have learned all this information and I am looking forward to future blog posts.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is fascinating. I've never actually taken the time think about this subject. I've always just used YouTube mindlessly not even realizing that by me viewing someone's video, they could potentially be making money off of it. I can't even believe that many of them make that much money off of their videos. It must make other people that work so hard to make much less money than that wonder what they are doing wrong.
ReplyDeleteI know right! Its crazy to think that most people making 1/4 of the money Psy makes off youtube spend up to 10 years in school, paying tuition after tuition and having to spend half of their life paying back all the loans they owe. Most highly paid YouTubers aren't necessarily artists and comedians, there are plenty of people out there teaching viewers things like how to apply make up, how to build a house and how science and technology work. Those are the kind of people that must have had to receive a degree, in order to teach something accurate that will be viewed by millions of people.
DeleteI had no idea YouTubers made that much money off of their videos, although I never really took the time to look into it. That's crazy to think that by posting one simple video could earn you so much money, let alone views from other people! I wish I had the imagination and creativity to make a crazy video and get tons of subscribers and views, and become rich lol!
ReplyDeleteWow, I never knew they could make so much money! It's crazy how youtube can change people's lives so quickly and turn into their job just like that. It's a good reward for those who put a lot of time into youtube and create many quality videos; their hard work pays off in the end.
ReplyDeleteI know it may seem to some people that making youtube videos is easy and all but it actually isnt. Youtubers have a work schedule just like any other employed person in the world. Theirs however functions differently. Instead of having to show up to work at a certain time, they have to post a certain amount of videos per week. Most importantly not to forget, they have to spend large amount of time during the day editing each video as well as replying to comments!
DeleteThis Blog really caught my attention, just by reading this it made me realize how many Youtuber's there's out there! We see the Youtuber's that are very famous for being really funny, or really talented; then there's the Youtuber's that "try" to earn money off making videos to impress the watchers, but actually end up making millions off something so pathetic, such as the girl "eating a tampon". She got so much money off that because the amount of viewers she had! It's crazy to see how much our generation is different, and how easy it is to earn money now a days, very interesting blog :)
ReplyDeleteJust a reminder that all highly payed youtubers are partnered with Youtube, meaning they'd have to meet all the requirements listed above in order to receive large amounts of money. Other viral youtube videos such as the " The tampon girl" and "Evolution of dance" do however earn money due to of the all of views they've received, just no where near the amount of Youtube Partners are making. Basically what Im trying to say is ALL of the videos a highly payed Youtubers ever posted on Youtube have to be consistent with a large quantity of views - so over 100,000 views on each and not just one video with 1,000,00. :)
