TV shows, radios, game shows and talk show hosts… they’re all great
ways to become famous. But lately there has
been an easier way and it’s called YouTube. How many people out there have seen the “Evolution of Dance” or "Charlie bit my finger"?
In the past couple years, YouTube has
opened doors for talent discovery. It has never been so easy for
talented singers, dancers and actors to achieve instant fame. Today, a
person can upload a video of themselves singing to YouTube and, if it gets seen
by the right person, they could receive millions of views, get a record deal
and begin a whole new life overnight.
An
obvious example would be Justin Bieber. When Justin’s mom uploaded some videos
of her son singing to YouTube, she initially meant to share them mainly with
family and close friends. What she never expected was to have the videos be
seen by music manager Scooter Braun. Immediately
Scooter contacted the family inviting them to Atlanta to sign a record contract.
Best part is… Justin had Usher and Justin Timberlake fight for who would sign
him, evidently, Usher won.
Before
YouTube, singers had to perform to small audiences and in bar gigs, hoping that
word would spread out or that a certain famous person would be there. YouTube
offers an audience of millions. Of course, uploading a video to YouTube doesn’t
guarantee your ticket to fame, but it does increase the chances of someone with
real, genuine talent and originality getting discovered.
Here’s
Justin Biebers first YouTube upload below and bellow that is a video of him
singing for President Obama.. All thanks to YouTube. Amazing, right?
This is so true! I am not on youtube very often, although when i do go on I find myself watching videos for hours and i just keep watching. I enjoy watching the videos of unknown people with such amazing voices! I think there is a lot of future stars on youtube. Although because it a a website for anyone there are so interesting videos..
ReplyDeleteHaha me too! I originally log onto youtube to watch a certain video. When I'm done watching, suggestions of other related videos pop up and because they seem so interesting i end up watch them. Whats funny is the next thing you know I've already spent 2 hours watching youtube videos without even noticing!

ReplyDeleteI find it very fascinating how Youtube has the ability to impact someone’s future. Justin Bieber is a perfect example of someone that was once living a normal regular life and became a worldwide pop star due to Youtube. He started a new generation of artists that succeed thanks to social media.
ReplyDeleteI know right! Justin Biebers success because of youtube has encouraged others to share videos of their talents on the site hoping to become as successful as he has. I feel like his fame and hard work gives children the impression that if you put yourself out there and come out of your comfort zone, there are only good things waiting for you in life!
DeleteSo you're arguing that the discovery of Justin Bieber was a good thing? ;)
ReplyDeleteThe discovery of Justin Bieber has influenced many other children to follow their dreams and to never give up in what they believe. Sure Justin has made his good share of mistakes throughout the past couple of years but what teenage boy hasn't? His break out has nothing to do with his discovery through Youtube. He went from nothing to being the worlds most successful 19 year old thanks to Youtube. Not only does he inspire others but he always stays humble and remembers to give back to the less fortunate. Throughout the past 5 years Justin has donated over $30,000 towards food banks across Canada. He also donates 1$ from every concert ticket he sells towards "Pencils of Promise". Think about it, the stadiums he performs at hold up over 15 thousand fans, thats over $15,000 per show! The media is so mainstream that they only recognize him for his flaws and not for the good he does. I hope this answers your question :)
