A Smaller World

One of the most amazing things about YouTube for me at least,  is how its able to make the world a smaller place. No, I don’t mean that YouTube has actually shrunken down the globe. What I mean is that YouTube has given us the power to travel the world with a single click. Exploring different cultures, languages and attractions with videos has made it possible for anyone to discover the world without spending a dime.
Yes, before YouTube existed we were able learn about foreign countries and cultures by buying and reading books, looking up articles online and pictures. YouTube however,  allows us to take things one step further. Not only is it much easier, we are also able to learn about countries by watching YouTube videos created by the people living there and not foreigners. This gives us a better understanding because we have an accurate perspective to base our knowledge on.
I think it’s absolutely incredible that with a quick YouTube search we can watch a Japanese music video, take an educational trip to The Eiffel Tower, or find out everything there is to know about China.

YouTube has opened up new doors for people, especially people who were once ignorant to the world around them. It has helped them become aware of the cultures across the world and see that there are all sorts of interesting people living on our planet, interesting variations of music and dances that they've never heard or seen before. There are so many things left to see, learn and soak up, because there is no limit to learning what lies on this planet.
Thanks to YouTube, people who are unable to travel due to medical, financial and visa issues are now able to explore the world at no cost from the comfort of their own home. I myself have learnt so many things simply by typing my questions out and watching  the first video that pops up.

YouTube makes the world seem smaller mainly because we discover and see things we thought we'd never be able to . Our knowledge about this planet and what goes on in it continues to expand as time progresses. With a single search, we're able to visually have our questions answered.

  1. I am on youtube everyday and I never realized that youtube has the power to let one explore the world. When I am on youtube, instead I watch music videos, but I have searched documentaries from countries around the world. Without youtube I wouldn't have really had the chance to learn as much as i have. It is a really great website, especially for those who don't keep up with the t.v guide!

  2. This post is very interesting! As much as I go on youtube, I have never thought of it as a place where you can explore different countries and cultures. I always looked at youtube as a place of entertainment. I’m sure to start using youtube as a place for learning and expanding my knowledge on different aspects of the world!

    1. Haha, most people only see it as a site to listen to music without having to purchase anything on itunes. Youtube however is more than that. You can watch the news, debates, documentaries and plenty more. The more you use Youtube the more you discover how much more there is to it!

  4. That's really something. I guess YouTube is a tool to travel the world. It's definitely a lot different then it used to be. It's weird to think how it started off so small and is now one of the most used websites out there.

    1. I know right! Youtube was nothing 3 years ago, but look how much it has evolved. I honestly don't know how different the world would have turned into without the creation of Youtube. We use it for almost everything.. From watching tutorials to documentaries the search never ends!
